Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) has agreed to supply the state-owned Brunei Fertilizer Industries (BFI) with 500 billion cubic feet of natural gas over the next 20 years to produce fertiliser which is targeted to be exported to the agriculture industry in the region.
The US$1.8 billion state-owned plant, built by German conglomerate thyssenkrupp AG's Industrial Solutions, is Brunei's first fertiliser plant, and utilises a single-train design for urea production – the biggest of its kind in Southeast Asia, and one of the largest in the world.
